HMRC resource enhances accounting software performance

A new Employer's CD-Rom offered by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) can help companies to enhance their financial reporting by working in tandem with
accounting software.
The free PAYE CD provides a range of calculators for tax and NI contributions and is part of attempts by the tax department to encourage companies to file returns online.
HMRC is currently assessing whether or not the CD is helping smaller firms as part of a one-year pilot and stresses that it is intended to provide a resource alongside other
accounting software and management reporting packages.
The CD does not include the ability to generate all information needed to produce regular reports and payslips, AccountingWeb reports.
However, some firms have hit out at the HMRC software, claiming that the department should focus on collecting tax, rather than distributing software at the expense of taxpayers.
The disc can offer key information and resources to larger companies, who can feed the information into
management reporting and
accounting packages to provide more accurate results, while smaller firms will benefit from the learning resources included on the CD-Rom.
