HMRC reminder about pension scheme e-filing

News Article - 09 June 2009
Category: Business

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) is reminding people that the deadline for mandatory e-filing for registered pension schemes is just over a month away.

Pension scheme administrators are required to provide the relevant information, including applications to register a pension scheme, accounting for tax returns and scheme administrator's declarations, by 16th October 2007.

Julie Elsey, head of pensions schemes services at HMRC, said: " The 16th of October isn't far way, so if you're a pension scheme administrator, make sure you're ready for the changes."

By taking steps to prepare for the deadline now, those concerned can avoid problems further down the line, she added.

In order to submit information electronically, administrators need to be registered with HMRC's Pension Schemes Online service.

HMRC recently announced the launch of an Agent Update electronic news service for the tax agent sector.

The publication is to be produced twice each month and will contain new announcements and guidance.
