HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) is reminding registered pension scheme that they are required to file certain information online from October 16th 2007.

Among the information s administrators must now submit online are details of applications to register a pension scheme, accounting for tax returns and notifications of the winding-up of a scheme.

Julie Elsey, head of pension schemes services at HMRC, said: "If you're a pension scheme administrator and you haven't registered to file online, you should do so as soon as possible. Otherwise, you may be storing up problems for the future."

In order to file information on the web, scheme administrators need to register with HMRC's Pension Schemes Online service, although it can take up to seven working days for a new account to be activated.

In related news, HMRC recently launched an online publication aimed at providing information for tax agents and advisers.

The Agent Update is to be distributed via trade and professional organisations.
