HMRC: 'File tax returns online'

News Article - 10 May 2007
Category:

Employers are being urged to use HM Revenue & Customs' (HMRC) online service to file their 2006-07 annual returns ahead of the approaching deadline.

The tax body states that filling out returns online offers the quickest method of getting the job done on any day of the week.

Don MacArthur, director of HMRC's Employer Programme, said: "The last thing we want is for employers to file late and receive a penalty.

"The sooner we get the information, the sooner we can process it. So beat the May 19th deadline and file now."

Recruiters with fewer than 50 employees who fill out their return online may also receive a £150 tax-free payment while those with more than 50 workers are required to fill out their forms over the computer.

The tax-free payment can be received through the self service option when filing online or, if this is not possible, via email.
