Green means go for the environment

News Article - 23 January 2009
Category:

Businesses keen to begin accounting for carbon emissions but concerned that during the recession going green could prove too costly should put their concerns aside.

Sarah Fister Gale, in an article for Green Biz, said that more and more firms have realised that becoming energy-efficient is good for the bottom line and can actually reduce overhead costs.

She added that despite the economic downturn, investment in green technology was not declining - which may prompt organisations into investing in carbonaccounting software.

Chris Mines, an analyst for Forrester Research, said that he expected the investment into green technology to increase in 2009.

"The motivation for these projects is foremost cost savings and the environmental benefits are an added nice to have," he added.

Meanwhile, Erica Russell, a sustainable business advisor from Business Link, recently stated that green ideas are currently being translated "quite comfortably" into small UK businesses.
