Many graduates would consider a company's training and development provision as the most important factor when choosing a potential employer, according to a new report by an accountancy firm.
A survey by Ernst & Young found that 44 per cent of graduates stated that training and development were the most important consideration, compared to 18 per cent who said salary was the key factor.
Stephen Isherwood, head of graduate recruitment at the firm, said: "Despite the many concerns students have when thinking about their future employer, it is still critically important for many of them that their new job offers them opportunities to learn, and to develop their own careers."
The company also found that three per cent of those polled said that the ethical and environmental reputation of a firm was an important concern, with a further 12 per cent citing the company's business reputation.
Ernst & Young was recently chosen among the top four Best Big Companies to Work For in the UK by the Sunday Times.
