The government needs to do more to further software innovation in the UK, one sector commentator has claimed, news that may enable some companies to enhance their business growth.
Jass Sarai, head of software and IT services at PricewaterhouseCoopers, said this was because the domestic software industry was established around innovation.
"One way is rewarding companies doing research and development, rewarding them through grants and giving them a favourable tax position," she suggested.
According to PMP Research on financial and
accounting software integration, published in April 2008, 66 per cent of respondents said the main business reason for recent developments in
accounting and monetary systems was the continual need to change and update company processes.
Furthermore, 62 per cent said the main reason was the need to improve management information systems, while other reasons included improving customer focused processes (48 per cent) and the demand for cost reduction (45 per cent).
