HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) is urging businesses with registered pension schemes to make sure they sign up for online filing as soon as possible.

In October, firms will need to submit an amount of information online which will be sent over to the tax body.

From October 16th, companies will be required to give electronic information pertaining to applications to register a pension scheme, returns from the schemes, data about tax returns and event reports.

In addition, firms will also need to provide details in relation to declarations by the scheme's administrator and notifications if the pension scheme is closed or if the administrator terminates their appointment.

Revenue head of pensions scheme services Julie Elsey said: "Thousands of pension schemes are already taking advantage of our online service, so get on board and experience the benefits of e-filing now.

"That way you'll be well prepared for e-Mandation Day on October 16th."

Scheme administrators have various responsibilities, including registering the scheme with HMRC.
