Promoting flexible working can offer both employers and workers a number of benefits, one organisation has claimed.
According to Work Wise UK, which organised the recent Work Wise Week, bosses who modernise their views towards working can help staff lower their stress levels and achieve a greater work/life balance.
"As has been shown throughout Work Wise Week, the benefits of working smarter are numerous and substantial," said Phil Flaxton, chief executive of Work Wise UK.
"The arguments are won, there is no real downside, no disadvantages, no hidden costs, this is a genuine win-win situation."
He added that overhauling working practices could be the solution to various problems, including employee wellbeing issues, road congestion and overcrowding on public transport.
For these issues to be rectified however, a transformation on a scale similar to that of the Industrial Revolution would be necessary, Mr Flaxton stated.
IT Pro reports that while flexible working is often offered at larger firms, small businesses often do not have the budget or training to implement remote access systems enabling alternative working styles.
