Female entrepreneurs 'seeking financial opportunity'

News Article - 09 June 2008
Category: Business

Female entrepreneurs are increasingly setting up small businesses in order to have more financial opportunity and flexibility in their lives, a new survey reveals.

A Microsoft Office Live Small Business National Survey states that many women enjoy the chance to be their own bosses and female small business owners are also attempting to achieve a better work-life balance by setting up their own enterprises.

The poll of around 600 female entrepreneurs in the US indicates that 39 per cent use the internet to manage and market their business.

Another reason given for setting up a new venture was the ability to put a great business idea into practice and one third of those quizzed stated that being a woman had an 'overall positive impact' on their entrepreneurial efforts.

Female entrepreneurs are advised that good accounts software can provide them with an effective and affordable way to manage their finances.

The Government Equalities Office recently reported that the average full-time pay gap between men and women in Britain stood at 17.2 per cent, while the average gap of part-time pay was 35.6 per cent.
