Installing
carbonaccounting software in the office is more vital than ever after a business expert warned early preparation is the best way to cope with new green government legislation.
The
Carbon Reduction Commitment detailed in a 2007 Energy White Paper means all organisations expending more than 5,000 KW of electricity a year must have
carbon reporting processes in place from 2010, reports IT Week.
Employing
carbonaccounting software could help bosses identify where savings could be made, ultimately reducing
CO2 emissions and improving overall
corporate social responsibility.
Richard Kellett, head of solutions and technology marketing at business intelligence company SAS, insists it is important to start applying these solutions now rather than simply meeting basic requirements in two years time.
He tells the news source: "This type of approach is extremely short sighted, and puts you in a constant game of catch up."
Meanwhile, a recent survey by marketing consultancy Fresh Marketing found green practice in the workplace can help boost staff loyalty, as well as being good for growth too, Management-Issues reports.
