Accountancy students in China will now have the opportunity to sit the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CICPA) uniform examinations at a European centre.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW) has signed an agreement with CICPA to organise for the examinations to be held in Brussels, Europe.
Mr Wang Jun, vice minister from the Chinese Ministry of France, said: "Having a European centre for the
uniform examination is an important step for the Chinese
accounting profession to implement its strategy of cultivating talents."
He added that the move would raise the exam's profile and help to increase the number of CICPA's overseas members.
Chief executive of the ICAEW, Eric Anstee, said that globalisation has meant China needs to develop "a layer" of professionals within the
accounting sector who have knowledge and application of international
accounting standards.
The agreement was signed by the ICAEW and CICPA during the World
Accounting Congress in Istanbul which ran between November 13th and 16th under the theme of generating economic growth and stability worldwide.
