The media and government spotlight on green issues is not jading UK firms, a poll has discovered, with 94 per cent still concerned about energy conservation.

Research by document management software company Verison One found a large majority of respondents rate corporate responsibility very highly when it comes to climate change issues.

Just under half maintained they were very concerned about green practice in the workplace, compared to just three per cent who were not bothered about environmental impact.

However, only 49 per cent of finance professionals polled believed their company was taking sufficient steps to go green, for example by installing carbonaccounting software.

Lynne Munns, general manager of Version One, said businesses were also increasingly concerned about the potential financial penalties of ignoring the eco issue.

Earlier this week Raymond McGloin, head of business sales for the energy provider npower, insisted the rising cost of utilities would have its part to play in driving conservation too.
