Employers missing out on good candidates

A recent study by TalentPuzzle revealed extended recruitment
processes are causing employers to miss out on the best candidates.
86% of business owners and HR staff admit they spend too much time
on the recruitment process, with a further 73% admitting a lack of
time and resources means they often fail to hire the best candidate
for the position.
88% of respondents also claimed they were looking to hire a
significant number of new employees in the next six months. A
recent report by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC)
and KPMG suggests the growth of permanent staff placements in
February grew to the strongest level since July 2007. Contract and
temporary staff billings also saw a rise.
One issue identified in the TalentPuzzle survey was that many
companies are finding it difficult to source the best employment
agencies. 86% of organisations said that better relationships with
more productive agencies would result in less hassle and improve
the quality of appointments. However, a lack of time means
employers are often forced to work with multiple agencies to ensure
appointments are made, resulting in increased costs.
The survey supports recent reports that whilst HR directors feel
greater contentment with their jobs and employers, many remain
cautious about expansion prospects for the future. Consensus seems
to point to budget cuts and limited resources as one of the main
obstacles to improving the HR function, particularly the hiring of
top talent.
Freeing up resources to dedicate to recruitment can be
particularly hard when the emphasis remains on regaining market
share lost during the post-crisis climate. One of the most
effective methods is to automate as much of the recruitment process
as possible, allowing HR directors and decision-makers to more
closely scrutinise shortlisted candidates.
Access' software portfolio includes an integrated payroll and
HR solution that automates recruitment processes and provides
usable, accurate data to help facilitate decision-making. Powerful
filtering functionality allows HR managers to view applications by
salary expectations, applicants' location and other specified
criteria. In addition, applications can be viewed by source - such
as job websites or internal billboards - to show the success of
advertising efforts.
With an integrated software solution the recruitment process
becomes far more streamlined, allowing companies the time and
resources to ensure the most suitable candidates are hired. For
