Year-on-year employer demand is up 25 per cent - a 28 per cent
increase since December 2009. This is despite a two per cent
decrease in national job opportunities from February to March.
Findings from the Reed Job Index suggest private sector growth
is responsible for this increase, with a number of private sector
industries on the rise.
Job salaries continue to lag behind rising inflation, although
rises can be found in such areas as administration, hospitality and
HR job sectors. Meanwhile salaries for new banking jobs have
reached their highest level since the Reed Job Index began.
However, rising inflation and continuing overseas conflict means
businesses should not become complacent.
Martin Warnes, managing director of reed.co.uk, said: "The sharp
rise in job creation witnessed in January and February has slowed,
indicating that economic recovery should not be taken for
granted.
"Indeed, rising inflation, rising unemployment figures and
international turbulence have been reminders that the economy
remains fragile.
"However, job creation is well ahead of last year. Encouragingly
this growth has been spread across a wide range of private sector
areas. With high job competition keeping salaries flat, this is a
good time for employers to find the talented people they need."
With an increasing number of businesses searching for new
talent, sophisticated business HR solutions
enable organisations to plan, manage and execute recruitment
campaigns with great efficiency.
No matter whether the recruitment process is controlled by HR
departments alone or managers, HR software can create vacancies
with ease and speed, allowing applicants to apply online saving
time, money and resource.
The difficulties in sourcing new talent was highlighted
following a recent survey suggesting many university leavers do not
have the work-based skills to secure graduate entry-level
positions.
Forty per cent of graduate recruiters surveyed by Totaljobs
cited a lack of business acumen and below-par communication skills
as just two of the main reasons graduates struggle to gain
employment.
