Big Four firm Deloitte has been granted the role of professional services supporter for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The business advisory company will be the sole provider of tax, human capital, management consulting and financial support for the Games from January 2009.

John Connolly, senior partner and chief executive of the firm, said that he is "delighted" and that it is a "great opportunity" for all employees and the brand.

"It reflects our longstanding commitment to leadership in the market and in the community, building on our support for grassroots sport and our exceptional track record in voluntary and community support," he added.

The deal is the first tier-two sponsorship to be appointed by the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG).

Over 2007, Deloitte's annual revenue increased by 15 per cent to reach £1,802 million.

The company won Best Big Four Tax Team and Best VAT Team in this years LexisNexis Taxation Awards.
