David and Sarah 'popular names for accountants'

News Article - 09 June 2009
Category: Business

Many accountants are likely to have the names David and Sarah, according to recently published findings.

Research by recruitment agency Badenoch & Clark - which last year won the title of Best National Recruitment Agency Website in the National Online Recruitment Awards - discovered that the names are the most popular among accountants, followed closely by John and Helen.

The conclusion was reached after the agency studied a database of 25,000 members of accountancy bodies, including the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Also making the top five for most popular names for male accountants were Paul, Andrew and Michael, while women's names included Claire, Emma and Rachel.

"Our database … shows a far reaching range of names which underscores the diversity of the professions," said Andy Powell, director at the firm.
