One Aberdeen company has found an innovative way of cutting carbon - and has seen its staff productivity boosted as a result, reports the Press and Journal.

Serviced holiday accommodation provider Skene House Hotel Suites has invested in bespoke, machine-washable uniforms for its staff.

This helps it to meet its corporate social responsibility objectives by eliminating the chemicals used in dry cleaning uniforms.

And the morale boost it has given to staff has helped to raise productivity, director Jennifer Lindsay tells the publication.

She says: "The new tops have overcome all the problems we previously had with the blouse.

"The cut means it flatters all figures, it sits neatly across the hips and is cool and comfortable."

Aberdeen city council notes that north-east Scotland has one of the UK's largest 'footprints' in terms of consumption of local natural resources.

Companies looking to overhaul their corporate social responsibility are told that transport, catering and energy consumption are the main areas the region needs to address.
