Current business 'a case of controlling costs'

One priority currently being seen in the world of business is an
effort to control costs, one sector commentator has stated.
Marc Barber, editor of smallbusiness.co.uk, said that a recent
rise in business confidence may have been caused by some
organisations' belief that they were over the worst of the economic
downturn.
This would cause firms to feel "a little" more confident about the
way their business was positioned, he added.
However, Mr Barber advised that companies should continue to
control costs and not be too aggressive as 2009 would still be a
difficult year.
"Just literally take things steady and strong and then see how you
are at the end of the year. It's a case of holding tight really,"
he noted.
Mr Barber concluded by recommending that firms control costs and
see where their finances stand at the beginning of 2010.
According to the latest Business Trends report by accountants and
business advisers BDO Stoy Hayward LLP, short-term business
confidence over the next quarter has registered a second
consecutive increase from 88.3 in February to 88.6 in March.
