Contact HMRC with questions, accountants told

News Article - 10 July 2007
Category:

Accountants and tax workers are being urged to get in contact with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) with their questions about new measures brought in to help professionals engage with tax advisors.

Questions will then be posed to the tax body's director-general Dave Hartnett and feature over a series of podcasts early next month.

Anne Shevas, acting director of communications and marketing at HMRC, said that the launch of the podcasts initiative - entitled Working Together - illustrated that there was an appetite for the tax body to hear directly from senior tax professionals.

"Working Together is an ongoing discussion between business and HMRC. The next set of podcasts aim to be more interactive, so agents can ask about emerging issues - and hear straight from the top," he said.

Recently, in related news, the Guardian claimed that many people were cashing in on non-domicile status and a crackdown carried out by the Treasury had only served to make the situation worse.
