The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (Cipfa) is set to hold a workshop and information session for government accountants.

Taking place on November 2nd 2006, the day will be targeted at local government finance departments and their colleagues who many need to attain a better overall view of the issues currently facing the sector.

Topics to be discussed include the revaluation reserve and capital adjustment account, new performance statements and accounting for financial instruments.

Other issues facing the Statement of Recommended Practice in 2007 will be on the agenda, along with balance sheet management and the housing revenue account.

Speakers at the course will include Colin Stratton, the technical manager for local government accounting and financial reporting at Cipfa, and independent consultant Peter Morley.

The workshop will be held in York in November, but another instalment will take place toward the end of the month in London, on the 22nd.
