CIMA to work with CMA Canada to develop guidelines

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the Certified Management Accountants of Canada (CMA Canada) are to collaborate on a research programme exploring the strategic management sector.
Work is to include the production and development of
management accounting guidelines on best practices in the accountancy profession.
Steve Vieweg, president and chief executive officer of CMA Canada, said that the partnership would aim to provide "leading-edge knowledge resources" for business accountants all over the world.
"By working together, we will provide the strategic leadership, financial prowess, resources, research and power to support businesses, governments and academia, and to optimise the performance of global enterprises."
Charles Tilley, CIMA's chief executive, said that both bodies were dedicated to creating knowledge products and providing support for accountants in the industry, business and public sector, adding that the joint activities would widen the boundaries of
management accounting.
CIMA recently announced it would be promoting the
business accounting agenda at the World Congress of Accountants, which began on November 13th and is due to end tomorrow.
