CIMA signs York university deal

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) has signed an education agreement with the University of York.

Under the terms of the deal, the university will provide accelerated masters programmes for members of the institute, with this becoming its first-ever link-up with a professional body.

The masters degrees can be taken on a full or part-time basis, or by an e-learning programme, with more than 20 units to be made available.

Robert Jelly, CIMA's director of education, expressed his delight at the deal and stated that it would be a great step forward in the body's desire to offer continuing personal development.

"It provides a great way for CIMA members, particularly in the public sector and health industry, to further develop their careers and will also help employers win the war for talent and retain valuable finance staff," he remarked.

In August CIMA announced that it would be launching a new advertising campaign to promote membership.
