CIMA launches research project

News Article - 01 August 2007
Category:

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) has launched a research initiative which aims to improve decision-making processes.

With the hope of finding out what practitioners believe to be the role of the accountant within the organisational decision-making process, the institute is calling for research proposals to be suggested.

The proposals should be based on examination of the involvement of accountants in the managerial function. In addition, they should reflect how important or influential the finance professional's role is within the decision-making process.

Application forms for a research grant can be downloaded from CIMA's website and those wishing to participate will have to outline the goal of their research and how it will meet CIMA's criteria.

Specific topics of interest as listed by the institute include issues of governance, investment decisions relating to information systems in public, private and not for profit sectors and the influence of alternative stakeholders on the supply of accounting information.
