Students from two schools in Windsor and Devon have been hailed for
their entrepreneurial skills by the Chartered Institute of
Management Accountants (CIMA).
Year 12 pupils from Eton College and Year 13 students from Plymouth
College clinched top spot in the accountancy body's annual
Management Competition at the end of June.
While real business bosses can enjoy the advantages of
accounting
software and other
business tools in running their firms, the
school teams were challenged to act as consultants for a fictional
company with only the resources available to them at college.
This year they were instructed to analyse and market the Shinkendo
Oi, a pretend product similar to the Nintendo Wii, which schools
and clubs can use for sports practice.
Ray Perry, CIMA director of brand, said: "The great level of
strategic thinking shown in the submissions from all the teams
demonstrates how well prepared these students will be for the world
of business and I expect they will go far in their chosen
fields."
In related CIMA news, the National Recognition Information Centre
for the United Kingdom (UK NARIC) recently equated the accountancy
organisation's professional qualification to a Master Degree.
