The
Carbon Trust reveals that
carbon emissions measurement remains as important as ever in the current economic climate.
Businesses are told that a quarter of shoppers are more concerned than in previous years about the impact on the environment of the goods and services that they buy.
And two in three consumers are still taking the environment into account as much as was the case a year ago when making purchases.
The figures have been published by the
Carbon Trust, which operates an award scheme for businesses which conduct
carbon emissions measurement and reduce their output.
Other figures from the report show that two-thirds of consumers believe it is important to shop with companies with clear environmentally driven corporate
social responsibility objectives.
And around 14 per cent have switched where they get products and services from due to environmental concerns.
The
Carbon Trust recently called on businesses to use its online wind turbine simulation to incorporate the potential use of an on-site turbine into their
carbonaccounting.
