Carbon
accounting software
can help businesses to reduce their impact on the environment
and enhance sustainability.
According to an article in the Birmingham Post, companies are
increasingly "following the trail" of their
carbon
footprints in order to enhance their green credentials.
Andy Speight, director of cost and project management consultancy
Faithful+Gould, claims that the property and construction sectors
are recognising the importance of sustainability.
Mr Speight suggests that the general public has become increasingly
aware of the green agenda over the past five years and building
projects are being assessed in terms of the impact they have on the
environment and ways in which this can be minimised.
However, he stresses that more needs to be done at all levels to
"drive real change", with companies committing to the Building
Research Establishment's Environmental Assessment Method
(Breeam).
Government targets are encouraging firms and individuals to reduce
their
carbon emissions, with the UK's
carbon footprint currently standing at an
estimated 500 million tonnes of CO2 each year, according to
official figures.
As businesses assume greater responsibility for the impact they
have on the environment,
carbonaccounting software is becoming an increasingly
popular way of identifying potential efficiencies in order to cut
costs and improve environmental sustainability.
