Carbon accounting software 'not the poorer option'

Energy-efficient devices - which may
include
carbonaccounting software - are not the poorer option,
one sector commentator has claimed.
Firms interested in beginning
accounting for
carbon emissions may be interested to know that
James Murray, editor of BusinessGreen.com, has claimed that
technology firms have embraced energy issues and are now bringing
them to market.
He added that such companies were not compromising when it came to
the environmental credentials of their products.
"They're aware that they can't downgrade the power of these
machines in terms of the computing power but they are taking it as
a given that they really do have to deliver on the energy side," Mr
Murray added.
In related news, the Kyocera Environmental Office Research 2008
revealed that 57 per cent of businesses have established an
environmental policy, while 68 per cent have such green measures in
place.
Meanwhile, 27 per cent of companies are trying to achieve
carbon neutral status, but 58 per cent of IT or
technology firms are aiming to be
carbon neutral.
