The Climate Change Bill will prompt businesses across the UK to
look at ways of improving their energy efficiency as part of their
business goals, the managing director of
Carbon Footprint has suggested.
John Buckley explained that the introduction of the bill "will put
more pressure on industry and businesses to reduce their
carbon emissions".
He explained that organisations are gaining awareness about a
variety of environmental issues, as they have confronted rising
fuel and electricity costs.
"Businesses are looking to make reductions in their energy usage,
not just to reduce their
carbon emissions but to save money," Mr Buckley
remarked.
One way that firms can save money and energy is by making changes
to how they use IT, he added.
Firms that are exploring ways of reducing their
carbon footprint may also be aided by the
implementation of
carbonaccounting software.
According to a December 2007 report from Global Action Plan, there
are around ten million office PCs in use in the UK.
