Companies seeking a software system for the new year may be interested to hear that business technology is more about getting people closer together than pulling them further part.
Such is the assertion of David Cumberbatch, a business psychologist speaking on behalf of Vodafone, who said that telecommunications can enable broader communities by allowing users to be connected all of the time.
"What [the] technology enables [is] important to understand, but some of the things that it may stop are equally important to understand," he added.
This may ease the worries of some people who fear that such technology could promote isolation.
Research by Vodafone has revealed that a third of 14 to 18-year-olds claim that joining the workforce will help them to avoid boredom, while they expressed fears of becoming lonely in a home working environment.
Meanwhile, one in five 16 to 25-year-olds already in a job believe that the inexorable rise of flexible working practices could ultimately damage the sense of community at work.
