The Auditing Practices board (APB) has announced the publication of a bulletin outlining changes to guidance for those reporting to the director of corporate enforcement in the Republic of Ireland.

Bulletin 2007/2 deals with the procedure for reporting suspicions of indictable company law trespasses and incorporates changes to section 194 of the Companies Act 1990.

These changes, in effect since March 1st 2007, oblige auditors to comply with any requests from the director of corporate enforcement for extra information on their reports. The bulletin also covers privileged information exemptions.

"We hope that auditors will find the revised guidance of assistance when coping with their additional responsibilities and that the commentary on 'privileged information' helps auditors and others understand the nature of this exemption," commented APB chairman Richard Fleck.

The APB was established five years ago and is part of the Financial Reporting Council.
