The international IT industry will become "borderless" over the next few years, according to new research.

Analyst Gartner claims that organisations will be sourcing IT resources from around the globe by 2015, with software, expertise and telecoms solutions purchased from a range of sources.

Partha Iyengar, vice-president and analyst at Gartner, commented: "Rapid IT growth in emerging nations is removing borders in business that will impact everyone."

A growing number of companies are choosing to outsource aspects of their operations or invest in software, such as accounts software, in order to enhance their operations and reduce costs.

The UK IT industry is increasingly creating a niche for itself in the high-value end of the software market. Software piracy rates have dropped in Britain as education and enforcement programmes take effect, a recent report by IDC stated.
