Accounts software could contribute towards UK green plan

The government is poised to unveil a new 'green plan' this week that will outline Britain's renewable energy plans for the future.
Companies committing to green ethics and renewable technology can use
carbonaccounting software packages to assess their
carbon footprint.
The Guardian newspaper has reported that the new green plan drawn up by ministers will examine ways in which the UK can meet its European Union target of 15 per cent of energy generated from renewable sources by 2020.
According to the newspapers environment editor, John Vidal, proposals seen in a leaked report include erecting up to 3,500 wind turbines across the UK over the next 12 years, but the plans could cost £100 billion to implement.
Energy minister, Malcolm Wicks, told the BBC that the new green strategy is the "most ambitious" that Britain has ever seen and
carbon emission reduction will be placed at the centre of UK energy strategy.
Less than five per cent of the UK's total electricity is currently generated from renewable sources and ministers are now planning to offer grants to businesses to boost green energy supply and reduce their
carbon footprints.
