Some 69 per cent of finance professionals believe that
accounting graduates lack the skills and experience to get a job in their field, research has shown.
A study by recruitment consultancy Robert Half Finance and
Accounting found that the majority of experts thought graduates in the finance field lacked industry knowledge, office etiquette and communication skills.
David Jones, managing director of Robert Half Finance and
Accounting, said: "Our latest survey clearly shows that finance workers are alarmed by the lack of necessary skills that graduates are equipped with."
The survey also showed that more than a fifth of companies are now taking on staff from overseas to enhance their dexterity capabilities despite 94 per cent of workers saying the practice should not be continued.
Mr Jones added that employers can view hiring international workers as an attractive option to bolster their workplace capabilities amid budgetary and profits concerns.
Last month, outsourcing company Harvey Nash claimed that the UK would lose out £54.3 billion per year without the work carried out by professional and managerial staff from overseas.
