Nearly two-fifths of accountants are relieving their workstress by
going to the gym, research has found.
A survey by KashFlow revealed that January is a stressful time for
accountants as they cope with the Self Assessment deadline and 37
per cent go to the gym to calm down.
It also found that a further 21 per cent leave their phones on
voicemail in order to avoid the high level of client calls.
A fifth gave themselves a rest by having early nights and a tenth
said January was no different to any other month for them.
Duane Jackson, managing director of the firm, commented: "With the
new breed of easy to use
accounting software packages out there, business
owners have no reason to send everything to their accountant at the
last minute as their records should be up-to-date as soon as April
is over."
Another stressreliever included herbal tea, taken by six per cent
of respondents.
While three per cent relied on an increased level of alcohol, while
one per cent cut it out altogether.
A new report by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work
reveals that new employment contracts, job insecurity and poor
work-life balances are leading to increased psychosocial risks in
the workplace.
