Accountancy software integration 'needs clear plan'

Any attempt to install new accountancy software should be preceded by a "detailed and methodical" planning process, according to the vice-president of Technology Group International (TGI).
Rebecca Gill argues that "as with any project, a plan is critical" and that it is used to establish both overall structure and monitor progress.
However, she also told the AccountingSoftware411 website that organisations which are implementing new accountancy software should also revisit their initial plans and review the project as a firm's requirements may not have initially been assessed correctly.
"Preparing a plan and making it a living document is the only way to keep the selection and implementation process on track," she stated.
However, Ms Gill also argued that any implementation project, such as integrating
accounting software, should begin at executive level and be based on overall company objectives and "long-term corporate goals".
The vice-president also suggested other important elements of a successful project are the establishment of a team leader, the selection of the right software package and testing, which is "absolutely critical for success".
TGI provides a number of business solutions to businesses that range from small to multi-national corporations. It was originally founded in 1990.
