Accountancy firms 'top graduate recruiters'

Three of the largest accountancy firms in the UK have been voted the best firms offering opportunities to graduates in a new survey.

In the 2007 Top 100 Graduate Employers list published by the Times, PricewaterhouseCoopers were named as the employer offering the best opportunities for the fourth year in a row.

Deloitte and KPMG we voted second and third respectively in the list, while BDO Stoy Hayward appeared for the first time ranked 74th.

The list was compiled by High Fliers Research which interviewed 17,000 new graduates leaving university this summer.

However, earlier this week Elements reported that 72 per cent of finance professionals believe that their jobs are becoming more stressful.

Additionally, 82 per cent of those surveyed said they were working more than 40 hours each week.

Paul Bibby, managing director of the firm, said that there was "little doubt" that the sector was becoming increasingly demanding.
