Accountancy firm lauds talent

The level of accounting talent present at Grant Thornton has improved, turning the company into a more impressive offering, one spokesman has claimed.

Andrew Howie, the firm's head of marketing in Scotland and a partner at the Glasgow branch, said that Grant Thornton can now provide a "real alternative" to the big four in the country, the Herald reports.

The "talent pool" which Grant Thornton is able to draw upon has improved on a national scale, with a greater level of business understanding, he claimed.

"Now we're in a strong position to take Scottish firms all the way. From start-up through to a listing, if they so desire. They don't have to graduate to a larger firm when they get bigger, we can do it all," Mr Howie told the publication.

Grant Thornton operates from 520 offices in 110 countries, with the UK arm handling 15,000 institutional and corporate clients and 25,000 individuals.
