The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) has revealed that new directors will be put in place for both its UK and European interests.

Roger Acton has been appointed as the director for Europe, having formerly been the head of Irish and eastern European arms of the organisation.

Having been with the ACCA since 1999, Mr Acton was previously the chief executive of the Disability Federation of Ireland, which encompasses 100 organisations offering services to disabled persons.

Meanwhile Wyn Mears, who has been the acting head of ACCA UK for more than a year, has been officially appointed into the role on a permanent basis.

Before joining the body, Mr Mears had been a success with his own consultancy offering marketing and communications to private and public sector bodies.

"I am looking forward to working with them [the ACCA UK team] to sustain our growth across the country, to enhance our support for our students and develop our services for - and engagement with - our 57,000 members," he said.
