A new report by theACCOUNCYjob.com has revealed that 75 per cent of accounts departments now have the latest IT systems.

More companies are now turning to new technology to help improve efficiency and make important cost savings, Onrec.com reports.

Corinne Dauncey from the firm said that companies may risk falling behind their competitors if they do not embrace the latest technology and update their IT systems.

"It is really important to keep upgrading computer systems to be productive enough to compete in any marketplace," she said.

Last month, the British Computer Society (BCS) warned firms that they could lose out if they do not implement an effective data management policy.

Keith Gordon, author of Principles of Data Management, Facilitating Information Sharing, said being unable to share information across their information systems could lead to companies making mistakes and offering poor customer service.
