The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) has the highest number of female members of all the UK's top tier accountancy bodies, a survey has shown.
Results show it has also experienced the fastest growth of any of the main accountancy bodies over the past six years, Accountancy Magazine reports.
At the end of December last year, 40 per cent of ACCA members were female, compared with 29 per cent of members at the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and 27 per cent of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).
Compound growth was recorded by the ACCA as being 30.1 per cent since 2000.
Figures have been released as part of the Key Facts and Trends in the Accountancy Profession survey conducted by the Professional Oversight Board.
In terms of growth, the Irish Institute came second in the ranking with growth of 26.1 per cent while the CIMA experienced 25.7 per cent growth.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland was found to have the highest growth in its student population with a rise of 59.6 per cent, followed by the ACCA with 49.6 per cent growth and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
Last year the ACCA stated that it entered into more partnerships with tuition providers and other institutes than ever before, indicating a growth in reputation.
