Three-quarters of entrepreneurs think the government's efforts
to aid small businesses are insufficient, reveals a new poll by BT
Business.
The most prevalent issue mentioned, with 75 per cent expressing
concern, was that regulations need to be simplified. Of those
surveyed, 70 per cent thought the government needs to cut business
taxes.
Entrepreneurs also called for greater incentives and better advice
and support.
Shadow minister for business Mark Prisk said: "Corporate taxes are
due to rise, there are now the equivalent of 14 new regulations
every working day and now the chancellor wants to nearly double his
tax hike on capital gains."
He explained that it was no wonder small businesses felt the
government had failed them.
According to the poll, firms in the north west of England and
Scotland felt least supported, with 85 per cent and 89 per cent
respectively calling for greater assistance.
