'More could be done' to Vista

More work could be done to Windows Vista, Microsoft's chief executive officer has said.

Steve Ballmer said that while the company had taken "great strides forward", there was still "so much more to do", ZDNet India reports.

Mr Ballmer told the website that consumers may start requesting storage and file system innovations that were not previously part of the Vista structure, adding that there was more to be done "on that front".

He also said that there was much more the company wanted to do to help IT administrators.

A feature in Vista will aid administrators in their work by allowing them to deploy a single image of the operating system throughout the whole of their business, meaning that administrators no longer have to make separate installation images which would differ between hardware configuration, according to the website.

"There is a lot we want to do for IT administrators to make systems simpler to deploy and manage and cheaper," he is quoted as saying.

Microsoft recently gave away some 30,000 copies of Windows Vista or Office 2007 to consumers who watched three web-based seminars which were based on the new products, CNET News.com reports.
