In an attempt to liven up the accounting profession's image, the
Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) has
made a music video, which it hopes will encourage young people to
join the profession.
The video, which is currently in the charts on website YouTube,
features accountants dressed in business suits rapping about
accountancy and making references to the institute, which they
refer to as 'Tute, the Guardian reports.
In addition to the video, entitled 'Tute in da House, the HKICPA
has re-launched its serious magazine Hong Kong Accountant with the
headline "Accountants just got cool".
The institute's aim is to serve the accountancy profession as well
as the public through "effective professional development in line
with the development of Hong Kong as a world city".
A survey recently conducted by the institute found that there is a
current shortage in the supply of accountants in Hong Kong, which
is predicted to continue over the next few years. Also noted
however, was a rise in salaries of 15 per cent.
