The emphasis of our day at Softworld has been the launch of our
report with the Centre for Future Studies '
The Future of Technology: transforming mid-market business
operations'. I presented on both the HR & Payroll and the
Accounting & Finance solutions stage, to packed houses as I
discussed the changing face of technology. Some of the trends I
highlighted were: an accelerated move to cloud based solutions,
users shaping the way we work through mobile technology, and the
virtualisation of IT.
We also have two stands at the show demonstrating our business
solutions, and I'm pleased that there's been a steady flow of
visitors throughout the day keen to see the solutions we offer. If
you're going to Softworld tomorrow make sure you visit our stand,
as we're giving away an iPad2.
I finished the day off by taking part in the 'The great
technology debate: an independent guide to software selection and
successful project implementation' with John Oates from Baker Tilly
and the ICAEW. This session covered all aspects of software
selection from reseller vs vendor, to risk of implementation
failure and system customisation. The panel also included Richard
Vince from Kent County Council, Andy Crossley from CapGemini, and
Maria Fecci from Baker Tilly. Being the only supplier on the stage
this was quite a lively debate.
If you're visiting tomorrow and want to find out more about our
future of technology report, then visit our stands, we're right
opposite the main entrance.
